As per the directives of H. H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Head of State "may God save and bless him", a relief plane of Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation departed yesterday for the Dominican Republic, carrying 77 tons of food aids and medical requirements for the distressed of the earthquake which struck Haiti and killed tens of thousands turning hundreds of thousands homeless and causing massive destruction of the infrastructure.
The aids will go by land to the quake stricken Republic of Haiti in order to enhance the international relief efforts for the benefit of those affected.
Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation delegation had earlier headed for the Dominican Republic to receive the plane, supervise and coordinate with the Dominican government for the delivery of aids to Haiti, within the framework of the Foundation's commitment to implement the directives of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Head of State "may God save and bless him" to provide relief services to meet the needs of the Republic of Haiti which encounters major humanitarian challenges as a result of the damage caused by the earthquake.
His Excellency Carlos Morales Troncoso, Foreign Minister of the Dominican Republic had discussed with officials during his recent visit to the UAE State mechanisms for delivering assistance and relief supplies ordered to be dispatched by HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Head of State "may God save and bless him" for the victims of the earthquake in Haiti.
He stressed his country's readiness to receive any assistance from friendly countries and deliver them to the distressed in the neighboring Haiti, especially in case the airport of the capital Port-au-Prince couldn't receive the aids which started flowing from all over the world for the relief of the distressed people.
Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation seeks to execute the directives of HH the Head of State, which confirm the attention paid by the UAE leadership to the humanitarian issues of the peoples of the world and responding to the call of duty to eliminate the suffering of those affected.
The Foundation will work in coordination with the United Nations and the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in the UAE State and the humanitarian organizations working in Haiti such as the World Food Programme and the "Save the Children" foundation to provide the best relief services so as to reduce the suffering of those affected and to improve humanitarian conditions as soon as possible in view of their suffering as a result of the devastating earthquake.
Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation emphasized that it extends this contribution within the framework of the international humanitarian efforts exerted to alleviate suffering in Haiti and minimize the impact of the situation there on the lives of civilians and the local population.
