Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, the first authority to deliver medical aids to hospitals on the borders of Haiti

Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation delegation, which is currently in the Dominican Republic, had delivered this morning, in the presence of Dr. Himahtro Salazar, the Dominican Minister of Health, medical aids to the Haitian people, including pharmaceuticals and medical supplies to be distributed to the hospitals and health centers near the western borders of the Republic of Haiti.
Dr. Salazar stressed that the Foundation is the first humanitarian authority to provide assistance in the Dominican to enable hospitals to treat the injured in the quake, which struck Haiti.

He said that the UAE fingerprints are prominent in the field of humanitarian action, expressing his thanks and appreciation to the UAE and its delegation, which toured the region and visited a number of hospitals and health centers.
The delegation had met earlier with Dominican officials and a group of humanitarian organizations, and listened to their explanation of the urgent needs of the Haitian people, especially in the field of health care and food, particularly in hospitals and clinics close to the borders.

The delegation emphasized that food aids will be distributed in cooperation with the Government of the Dominican and Haitian Embassy in Santo Domingo and the orphanage in Haiti, and will be transported by land to the Republic of Haiti to strengthen the international relief efforts in favor of those affected.
On the other hand, the delegation had finalized arrangements for implementing the second phase of the Haiti earthquake distressed relief program, ordered by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, may God save and bless him to meet the urgent and necessary needs of those targeted currently, in coordination with the Government of the Dominican through direct purchase from the local market in the Dominican Republic.
The delegation will buy about 500 tons of emergency relief items and necessary supplies to send them to Haiti.
It's worth mentioning that the Foundation had sent a relief plane loaded with 77 tons of foodstuffs and medical supplies as a first stage supervised by the delegation, in coordination with the Government of the Dominican, within the framework of keenness to execute the directives of His Highness, the head of state to provide relief services to satisfy the requirements of the Haitian arena which confront humanitarian challenges as a result of damages caused by the quake.
